Majahuitas is a cove on the south shore of Banderas Bay with no road to it. The only way in is across the water, which is the first thing that makes a Saturday there feel different from a night out in town.
The party runs through the afternoon and into the evening. Balinese beds and low lounges sit back under the palms, the jungle comes right down to the sand, and once the light goes the string lights and lasers take over.
Getting there
Boats leave Puerto Vallarta at 1:30pm and Nuevo Vallarta at 1:00pm. Check-in is 45 minutes before departure, so build that into your afternoon rather than arriving at the dock on the hour.
The crossing is part of the day — music starts on the boat, and you get the run down the south shore past the headlands on the way in.
What the place is actually like
It is a small cove, not a resort. Sand, jungle, a bar under a palapa, and seating scattered back into the treeline rather than laid out in rows.
The water is clear and calm enough to swim in through the afternoon. Most people are in and out of it before the sun drops and the evening properly starts.
Tables and packages
Shared entry starts at MX$2,300 a head, with a minimum of two. Regular tables are the same rate but need six people, and VIP tables are MX$2,800 with the same minimum.
The party package adds five cocktails and a three-course meal to the entry, music and boat transport. If you are going to eat and drink there anyway, it is usually the simpler way to do it.
