Booking a trip
How the marketplace works, how to send a request, and what happens once a captain has it.
- How does Puerto Vallarta Fishing & Tours work?We list trips run by local captains and operators across Bahía de Banderas. You compare trips, send a request for the date you want, and the captain confirms it. You pay the price shown on the listing — there is no separate booking fee added at checkout.
- How do I book a trip?Open the trip you want, choose a date, start time and party size, then send the request. Nothing is charged when you send it — payment happens after the captain confirms.
- How do I find the right trip for my group?Use the filters at the top of the site to narrow by trip type, date and group size, then sort by what matters to you. Inshore trips suit families and shorter mornings; offshore trips suit anglers chasing marlin, sailfish and tuna.
- How long does the captain take to reply to my request? Most captains reply within a few hours, and nearly all within a day. Captains are often at sea with no signal, so a reply that arrives in the evening is normal rather than a bad sign.
- What do the booking statuses mean?A booking is Requested, Confirmed, Declined, Cancelled or Completed. You can see the current status of every trip in your account at any time.
- What happens if my request is declined?Nothing is charged, and you are free to request another trip straight away. A decline almost always means the boat was already booked or the captain was not running that day.
- Do I need an account to book?Yes. An account is what holds your booking reference, your trip status and your payment record, and it is what lets you leave a review afterwards.
- Can I book a trip for someone else?Yes. Book it under your own account and put the name and phone number of whoever is actually going in the note to the captain.
