Managing bookings
Requests, replying, declining, changes, and the awkward situations that come up at the dock.
- How do I know when a request comes in?You are notified by email and the request appears in your operator workspace. Nothing is ever booked without you accepting it.
- How do I accept or decline a request?Open it in your workspace and accept or decline. Accepting confirms the trip and prompts the guest to pay their deposit.
- How long do I have to respond? As fast as you reasonably can. Most guests are comparing several boats at once, and a reply the same day is usually the difference between winning the booking and losing it.
- What happens if I decline a lot of requests?Declining an occasional request is normal and costs you nothing. Declining most of them means your calendar is wrong, and it will affect how often you appear in search.
- How do I contact the guest?Their contact details are on the booking once you have accepted it. Reach out before the trip to confirm the meeting point.
- A guest wants to change the date or group size. What do I do?It is your call. If the new date is open and the group still fits the boat, it is usually easier to move the trip than to lose it.
- A guest turned up with more people than they booked. What do I do?Do not exceed your certified capacity, whatever the guest says. If you can safely take the extra people, charge for them; if you cannot, they do not board.
- Can I refuse to take a guest?Yes, on safety grounds. Intoxication, refusal to follow instructions and anything that endangers the boat are all valid reasons, and we will back you.
- A guest has not turned up. What do I do?Try to reach them, wait a reasonable time, then tell us. The deposit is not returned for a no-show, and you keep the day.
