How does ranking work?
Commission tier is the main lever you control: 30% ranks above 20%, which ranks above 10%, among otherwise comparable trips. It is not the only factor, and it will not rescue a thin listing.
We would rather be straightforward about this than pretend an algorithm is doing something mysterious. A higher commission means we can spend more to put your boat in front of people, so it earns better placement.
What ranking cannot do is make a weak listing convert. Five sharp photographs, a description that says what the day is actually like, and a fast reply to requests will out-earn a 30% tier attached to a thin page. The captains who do best here do both.
Ranking compares trips that match what the guest asked for. A higher tier does not put an offshore boat in front of someone searching for a two-hour inshore morning.
