What if I get seasick?
Take medication an hour before you board rather than once you feel unwell, and choose an inshore trip if you are unsure. Seasickness is not grounds for a refund once the boat has sailed.
Almost all seasickness medication works preventatively and does very little once symptoms have started. Take it before you leave the hotel.
- Book an inshore or reef trip for your first time out rather than a long offshore day.
- Eat something plain beforehand — an empty stomach makes it worse, not better.
- Stay on deck where you can see the horizon rather than going below.
- Go easy on alcohol the night before.
If someone in your group becomes badly unwell, tell the captain. Turning back is at their discretion and, because the boat, fuel and crew have been committed, it does not normally mean a refund.
