What should I bring and what should I wear?

Bring sun protection, a hat, sunglasses, a light long-sleeved layer and soft-soled shoes. Leave anything you would hate to lose in the room, and take seasickness tablets before you board if you are prone to it.

The sun in this bay is harder than it feels with the breeze on deck. Almost every uncomfortable trip we hear about comes down to sunburn or dehydration rather than the fishing.

  • High-factor sunscreen, applied before you leave and reapplied on board.
  • A hat that will survive wind, and polarised sunglasses.
  • A light long-sleeved shirt — more effective than sunscreen alone on a long day.
  • Soft-soled non-marking shoes, or bare feet. No black soles.
  • A dry bag or sealed pouch for your phone and passport copy.
  • Seasickness tablets taken an hour before departure if you are unsure.

Cash in pesos is worth carrying for the crew tip and for the parking, even when the trip itself is paid for online.
